News from Nancy Preston of Summerhill:
Arsenic found in Summerhill Woods future subdivision. The area where the homes are to be built has been cleared of arsenic by the builder. The problem is in the area around the subdivision. The forest area that surrounds the future subdivision has arsenic levels that exceed the 25 parts per million. Amy Chung of the Toronto Sun reports on Dec 10,2008 that some samples found were 50,60,and even 80(ppm of arsenic) in the soil. The Town of Newmarket and the builder Acorn knew in Sept 2007 of this problem and the builder continued to sell homes without disclosing the information to the purchasers. The information was disclosed by the president of Acorn on Nov 1 2008. The president Paul Minz verbally told his purchasers at a barbecue he held for the new home buyers. Many of the purchasers were shocked and felt very betrayed. Purchasers are concerned of health effects, devaluing of property, and the possible removal of some trees. The builder doesn't know why we are concerned, he consistently asks us "what our problem is"                                                                                              1.3.9

Does your home have Aluminum Wiring
Acquiring insurance on homes with aluminium  wiring may require a specific certificate stating that the Aluminium wiring has been inspected by a qualified
electrical inspector. This certificate may have to be ordered and paid for by the owner (seller) of the home. This eventually  may be a requirement on renewal of home owner’s policies as well.
